Kiowa Agency Gallery Talk
Join us as graduate student curators of the exhibit Kiowa Agency: Stories of the Six Mariah Ashbacher, Julia Harth, and Olivia von Gries, lead a virtual presentation about the artists and artworks in the exhibition.

Between 1927 and 1929, six artists now known as the Kiowa Six created paintings of Kiowa culture at the University of Oklahoma. This exhibit explores the ways in which Spencer Asah, James Auchiah, Jack Hokeah, Stephen Mopope, Lois Smoky, and Monroe Tsatoke acted as strong agents of Kiowa cultural preservation during and after their residencies at OU. Kiowa Agency is generously supported by the Mellon Foundation and the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art acknowledges the Osage and Wichita People, on whose ancestral lands this exhibition is located.
