Fieldwork while Female: Dr. Ellen Currano
What image comes to mind when you picture a paleontologist? Likely, a burly, rugged, bearded, white man. Historically, the science of paleontology has been a male-dominated field. Today, women still make up only a small percentage of the paleontological community. While much progress has been made to address these inequities, there is still much work to be done. Women in paleontology continue to suffer from discrimination, especially in the field. This issue is not isolated to paleontology, but all field-based sciences. Join us virtually as our invited speakers share their research and perspectives on being a scientist who also happens to be a female.
